As an example of microalgae cultivation for wastewater treatment, researchers from the LIFE ALGAECAN project have participated in the Symposium on Microalgae Biotechnology in Agriculture, which took place on September 25 and 26 in Trebon (Czech Republic). This event focuses on the recycling of nutrients with algae and the use of algae in agriculture.

The project partners took advantage of the meeting to exchange experiences and knowledge with experts on the cultivation of heterotrophic algae, and visited the AlgaTech laboratories.

The LIFE ALGAECAN project, coordinated by CARTIF, works on the development of a wastewater treatment system from the fruit and vegetable processing industry based on the cultivation of heterotrophic microalgae.
