CARTIF researchers of Life ALGAECAN project have visited the facilities of two of the project partners in Slovenia to share the first advances since its launch.
The first visit was to the AlgEn Technology Center, in Ljubljana, responsible for the development of heterotrophic algae cultivation which, combined with the spray drying of the collected microalgae, will allow obtaining a product of commercial interest as a raw material for the production of biofertilizers, bioplastics, animal feed etc. At the moment, the researchers proved the correct development of microalgae under heterotrophic conditions.
They also had the opportunity to visit the fruit processing company VIPI, a family company where they produce and sell fruit juices, beverages, fruit and herbal vinegars and a large variety of organic products for healthy lifestyle. The project team has studied the location possibilities of the demonstration pilot plant.
