The treatment plant is installed at the second demonstration site VIPI, a juice and beverage company. Despite the problems we are experiencing with the Covid-19 pandemic, the first microalgae cultivation with fresh water and algae provided by Algen, experts from the algae technology centre, is already underway. The algae were previously adapted to growth in biogas digestate with a high level of nutrients. This inoculum cultivation in the raceway has been regularly monitored and different parameters such as pH, temperature and water level have been recorded.
Subsequently, the microalgae will be adapted with the company’s wastewater and then the inoculum will be used in a heterotrophic mode. ALGEN experts supervise the development of the culture.
